Gyeongnam Provincial Geochang College Decides to Provide Special COVID-19 Scholarships

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Gyeongnam Provincial Geochang College announced on the 10th that it will provide special scholarships to reduce the tuition burden on students caused by the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).

Gyeongnam Provincial Geochang College switched all first-semester classes to non-face-to-face (online) classes for the safety of students due to COVID-19. Through meetings with the student council regarding tuition refunds, the college actively reflected students' opinions and decided to provide special scholarships to encourage academic achievement.

The recipients are enrolled students registered for the first semester of this year, and 10% of their tuition will be supported. The special scholarships will be paid to students' personal accounts in early September.

Gyeongnam Provincial Geochang College has been striving to ensure that students study in a safe environment amid the spread of COVID-19 and to prevent any decline in the quality of education.

Additionally, to create a safe university environment, the college has made multifaceted efforts for student welfare, including installing partitions in the school cafeteria and conducting disinfection and sanitation.

Moreover, Gyeongnam Provincial Geochang College fully refunded dormitory fees in May following the implementation of all first-semester classes in a non-face-to-face format.

President Park Yoo-dong stated, “I hope the special scholarships will help alleviate the financial burden for students who are diligently studying despite the conditions of non-face-to-face classes. We will do our best to ensure that students can study in a safe environment in the second semester as well.”
