"Even if the National Assembly is rendered useless... cannot prevent the fall of Dalnim"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Ahn Cheol-soo, leader of the People’s Party, criticized the resignation of Presidential Chief of Staff Noh Young-min and five senior secretaries on the 10th, saying, “Amid the nation suffering from flood damage, we cannot overlook the resignation show of the Chief of Staff and senior secretaries as well as the prosecution personnel reshuffle.”
At the Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly that day, Ahn said, “The person primarily responsible for real estate remains inactive, while the Chief of Staff and senior secretaries unrelated to real estate policy have submitted their resignations,” adding, “This is a ‘covering one’s eyes and pretending not to see’ act, thinking that just temporarily avoiding the situation is enough. Do the people really sympathize with and agree to such a show?”
Regarding the prosecution personnel reshuffle, he pointed out, “The prosecution personnel reshuffle by the Blue House and Justice Minister Choo Mi-ae is a clear abuse of personnel authority,” and said, “Those who become the power’s lapdogs get promoted and receive good posts, and if they cannot, they are blatantly told to leave.”
He continued, “Even after doing this, they talk about prosecution reform, showing shamelessness that covers the sky,” and added, “While outwardly shouting for reform, this administration is completely destroying the health of the prosecution organization behind the scenes, and the people and history will surely judge this anti-democratic behavior.”
Ahn said, “No matter how much power is wielded recklessly, things in the world do not go according to the will of power. No matter how much President Yoon Seok-youl’s hands and feet are cut off, the twilight of this regime cannot be stopped,” and stated, “Even if the opposition party is pressured and the National Assembly rendered useless, the fall of the Moon Jae-in administration cannot be prevented, nor can the ugliness of the Star be hidden.”
Regarding the flood situation, Ahn said, “The government should realize the scale of flood relief funds, establish special measures such as emergency living support and financial aid, and ensure thorough quarantine against COVID-19 and other waterborne infectious diseases in the flood-affected areas as soon as possible.”
