[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] CU announced on the 10th that it has partnered with online education specialists, including the English conversation brand Yanadoo, to offer nationwide CU staff discounted tuition fees.
Yanadoo, an English education platform for adults, provides 10-minute daily English conversation lessons and offers a variety of educational content suitable for beginners to intermediate learners.
Through this partnership, CU staff can purchase the Yanadoo Best Product Lifetime Access Pass, which allows lifetime access to English conversation courses, at a special discounted price, and can also use the ‘Premium Tab Package’ including the latest Galaxy Tab at a discounted rate.
In addition to Yanadoo, CU has partnered with education companies that provide various educational materials for special lectures for repeat exam takers, the Korean History Proficiency Test, and the Police University exam, offering discount coupons that allow staff to take various subjects besides English at a 20% discounted price according to their individual needs.
CU introduced this education system for its staff to provide practical benefits to more employees, thereby increasing job satisfaction and securing excellent staff to enhance the competitiveness of franchise stores.
While scholarship programs or partial exam fee waivers for working students at educational institutions such as schools and academies are common, CU is the first convenience store company to partner with external educational institutions and offer related benefits.
Additionally, CU operates the ‘Top Staff System,’ which supports part of the franchise fee for long-term staff recommended by franchise owners and sales departments who wish to start a CU franchise; the ‘Staff Preferential Hiring System,’ which exempts document screening for excellent staff recommended by franchise owners when applying to BGF Retail; and the ‘Sijunsaeng System,’ which provides various benefits for those active as CU Marketers.
CU also runs the CU Ace program, which awards outstanding staff, and the CU Angel Staff program, which recognizes staff who have performed good deeds. Excellent staff recommended by franchise owners can also receive benefits such as comprehensive health checkups, ophthalmology services, and rental car discounts.
Im Ji-hoon, head of the BGF Retail Win-Win Support Team, said, “These educational content benefits are available not only to staff who are students but also to staff who are housewives with children, franchise owners, and their children?anyone in the CU family can benefit. We will continue to consider ways as the franchise headquarters to provide an environment where CU staff who directly meet customers and franchise owners can all work with satisfaction.”
