Gwanak-gu Motivates Local Youth Learning Through University Student Mentoring

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gwanak-gu (District Mayor Park Jun-hee) will conduct themed Talk Talk mentoring by university students at Nangok Community Child Center from the 10th to the 13th.

Talk Talk mentoring is a talent donation project where university student clubs active in various fields such as arts, culture, and academics provide customized, themed mentoring to local youth, helping them develop healthy hobbies and proper character formation.

This mentoring session is engineering-themed, conducted by Ewha Womans University Enbox club, consisting of 10 courses including engineering education, experiments, and hands-on activities (▲Infection and Immunity ▲Center of Gravity and Balance ▲Electricity and Solar Power Generation, etc.).

The mentoring operation and class content are planned by the university student club itself, and participating mentors receive budget support up to 1 million KRW per program and a certificate of volunteer (educational) service.

The university student clubs recruiting mentors are publicly announced every February to March through the district office website, and mentees are matched on a first-come, first-served basis from applications received from local elementary, middle, and high schools as well as community child centers.

The district expects the mentoring project to help motivate students' learning and career planning, contributing to resolving educational imbalance.

District Mayor Park Jun-hee said, “We will further expand the university student themed Talk Talk mentoring project to provide equal educational opportunities to underprivileged youth in the district,” adding, “We will do our best to support many youths to participate, resolve their career-related questions, and grow into outstanding local talents.”
