Receiving Nominations for the 25th Geumcheon District Residents' Award Candidates

[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) is accepting nominations for candidates for the "25th Geumcheon Citizen Award" until September 4th, targeting residents and organizations who have dedicated and volunteered for district administration and community development.

The "Geumcheon Citizen Award" is given to one person in each of the five categories: ▲Community Service ▲Good Customs and Morals ▲Education ▲Culture ▲Sports, recognizing residents and organizations who have devoted themselves with exceptional passion to the development of the local community.

Nominees must be individuals or members of organizations (including companies) who have contributed to community harmony and development in each category and have continuously resided or been located in Geumcheon-gu for more than three years as of August 6th.

Nominations can be made jointly by 20 or more Geumcheon residents or by heads of related organizations or groups in each category. Application documents, including the nomination form, achievement report, and supporting evidence, should be submitted to the relevant district office department by category or to the community service center of the nominee's residential area. Qualifications and required documents for candidates in each category can be found in the "Notices" section on the Geumcheon-gu Office website.

The district will decide the final awardees through the deliberation of the "Geumcheon Public Merit Review Committee" and plans to present the awards at the "Geumcheon Citizen's Day" ceremony scheduled for October.

Since its inception in 1996, a total of 116 residents have been honored with the "Geumcheon Citizen Award" through 24 ceremonies up to last year.

Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, said, "The Geumcheon Citizen Award, which has been part of Geumcheon-gu's history celebrating its 25th anniversary, was established to remember the dedication of unsung heroes who care for their neighbors and community." He added, "We hope you will find and recommend the hidden contributors who are making Geumcheon a happy city in every neighborhood."
