On the 8th, when record-breaking heavy rain poured down, Lee specifically requested the party to postpone the Democratic Party of Korea Gwangju City Party Delegate Convention and rolled up his sleeves to minimize damage by touring the entire constituency from morning until late at night.
On the 9th, when the rain subsided, he visited flood recovery sites in Yongjeon Village and Hasin and Haesan Villages in Geon-guk-dong, as well as landslide recovery sites in Samgak-dong, together with city and district council members and party officials from Buk-gu, focusing all efforts on damage recovery.
At the site, Lee promised to do his best to ensure swift recovery and support by closely coordinating with the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters, government ministries, and local governments.
Lee said, “Above all, the safety of citizens is the top priority,” adding, “We will monitor the situation and respond with full force until the damage recovery is fully completed and all citizens can feel at ease.”
