Operating World Traditional Costume Experience Zone at City Hall 1st Floor International Exchange Exhibition Hall
Safe Vacation Viewing Event with Steamedresser Installation for Sterilization and Disinfection
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Traditional costumes from 37 cities in 27 countries around the world have come to Busan.
Busan City announced on the 9th that it will operate a ‘World Traditional Costume Experience Zone’ at the Busan International Exchange Exhibition Hall during the August vacation for students and citizens to enjoy.
Busan’s sister and friendship cities number 37 cities in 27 countries. The exhibition hall is organized into 10 exhibition halls by continental regions, such as the China Hall and Japan Hall, along with an experience zone.
The exhibition hall on the first floor of City Hall has attracted nearly 100,000 visitors annually since its opening in 2013, but this year, due to COVID-19, visitors sharply decreased, with attendance in the first half of last year dropping from 51,930 to about 10,900, which is about 20% of the usual number.
In response to the summer vacation and the peak season for cooling off, the city has actively promoted opportunities for experiencing world cultures.
To prevent the spread of COVID-19, basic quarantine rules such as temperature checks and hand sanitization are enforced, and a new steam dresser has been prepared to sterilize and disinfect the exhibited costumes.
In the ‘Chroma Key Zone,’ a service is also provided where visitors can take photos with backgrounds of overseas sister and friendship cities and have them sent via email or text message.
Visits to the exhibition hall and the experience zone, which operates six times a day, are by prior reservation from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. If you wish to visit, it is recommended to first ‘click’ on the Busan City website.
Kim Ki-hwan, Director of Growth Strategy Bureau of Busan City, said, “This is an opportunity for kindergarten, elementary, and middle school students, families, and citizens on vacation to see the world cities partnered with Busan without having to travel far.”
