The volunteer group of employees from Woori Financial Group is carrying out volunteer activities by preparing food and packing lunch boxes at the Chungju Volunteer Center in Chungju-si, Chungbuk, together with the Korean Red Cross.
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyo-jin] Woori Financial Group announced on the 9th that it dispatched relief meal vehicles and employee volunteer teams to the Chungbuk region, which suffered severe damage from the heavy rains from the 5th to the 7th, to carry out volunteer activities for disaster recovery.
Woori Financial, in cooperation with the Korean Red Cross, dispatched relief meal vehicles to the severely affected Danyang area in Chungbuk for two days from the 5th to the 6th, and on the 7th, sent employee volunteer teams to the Chungju area to prepare lunch boxes on-site and deliver them to disaster victims.
Prior to this, on the 3rd, Woori Financial began by donating 100 million KRW for disaster recovery funds due to the heavy rains and supported over 400 households of disaster victims in Chungbuk and Gangwon regions with disaster relief kits (including blankets, underwear, hygiene products, and daily necessities).
Additionally, Woori Bank is providing financial support totaling 200 billion KRW until the 29th of next month for the restoration of damaged facilities and alleviation of financial burdens for disaster victims affected by the heavy rains.
Financial support includes operating funds loans and facility funds loans up to 500 million KRW for affected small business owners and SMEs, as well as emergency living expense loans up to 20 million KRW and interest rate reductions up to 1% for individual customers affected by the disaster.
Woori Card is also deferring card payment amounts for up to six months and waiving overdue interest on payments incurred after the disaster.
Son Tae-seung, Chairman of Woori Financial Group, stated, "We will do our best to help disaster victims who are going through great difficulties due to the heavy rains return to their daily lives as soon as possible," and added, "Woori Financial Group will continue to mobilize all group capabilities to fully support the recovery of flood-affected areas and financial assistance for affected customers."
