[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Nahum] The Democratic Party of Korea has decided to postpone the joint rally in Jeonbuk, which was scheduled for the 9th, following the postponement of the joint rally in Gwangju and Jeonnam due to heavy concentrated rainfall in the Honam region.

Min Hong-cheol, the chairman of the Democratic Party's Central Election Commission, announced in a notice the day before, "The Jeonbuk joint rally has also been postponed following Gwangju and Jeonnam."

Min said, "Damage caused by the heavy rainfall is occurring nationwide, and the situation in the Honam region is particularly severe," adding, "The Democratic Party of Korea will devote all efforts to flood preparedness and damage recovery."

The Democratic Party plans to reschedule the delegates' meeting after reviewing the damage recovery situation in the Honam region.

Democratic Party spokesperson Heo Yoon-jung also stated in a written briefing, "Representative Lee Hae-chan has demanded that the government urgently establish and implement flood countermeasures, and the Democratic Party has been instructed to respond together." She added, "The Democratic Party will also do its utmost together with government authorities and local governments to minimize the damage in the Gwangju and Jeonnam areas."

The Democratic Party plans to reschedule the delegates' meeting after reviewing the damage recovery situation in the Honam region. They also stated that the main event schedule of the party convention on the 29th will proceed without changes.

A Democratic Party official said, "The schedule is tight until the party convention, so it is not easy to reschedule the delegates' meeting, but it cannot be skipped," adding, "We will closely monitor the local situation and respond with the goal of resuming the joint rally as early as next week."
