Two Employees at Pangyo Samsung Medison Confirmed Positive for COVID-19

[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] Two employees of Samsung Medison, an ultrasound diagnostic equipment specialist company located in Pangyo, have tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

According to Seongnam City on the 9th, a 36-year-old male employee of Samsung Medison living in Taejeon-dong, Gwangju-si, Gyeonggi-do (Seongnam City patient number 193) was confirmed positive for COVID-19 on the 7th. This man showed symptoms of chills and fever starting from the 6th and underwent a COVID-19 test at Jeong Hospital in Sujeong-gu, Seongnam City.

The second confirmed Samsung Medison employee, a 53-year-old male residing in Jongno-gu, Seoul, was confirmed positive on the 8th. Both confirmed cases worked on the 9th floor of Building 2, Alpharium Tower, where Samsung Medison’s Pangyo headquarters is located.

The quarantine authorities conducted mass testing on about 150 employees at Samsung Medison’s Pangyo headquarters, with 98 testing negative. The remaining tests are still in progress. The authorities are investigating the infection routes, detailed movements, and contacts of the confirmed employees.
