30 Deaths and 12 Missing Since the 1st

[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] Thirteen people have died over three days due to continuous heavy rain in the Seoul metropolitan area and central and southern regions.
According to the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters (hereafter referred to as CDSCH) as of 6 a.m. on the 9th, 13 people have died and 2 are missing since the 7th, and about 3,700 disaster victims have been reported.
Since the 1st, the total number of deaths and missing persons due to the monsoon rains has reached 42. The number of disaster victims has reached 6,000, and damage continues to increase, including about 9,300 hectares of farmland submerged.
Two more deaths were confirmed at a landslide site in Jangsu-gun, Jeonbuk, the previous day. Additionally, a resident in their 70s was swept away by a river in Damyang, Jeonnam, adding one more missing person.
Over three days of heavy rain, the number of disaster victims has increased to 2,205 households and 3,749 people. With the collapse of the Seomjin River embankment, 3,540 people in Namwon, Jeonbuk; Namyang and Gurye, Jeonnam; and Sancheong, Gyeongnam, have not been able to return home. Facility damage totals 3,246 cases. 287 houses were submerged, 1,489 roads and bridges were damaged, 65 river damages, and 11 landslides were recorded.
Due to the monsoon rain continuing for the 9th day, cumulative rain damage since the 1st includes 30 deaths, 12 missing, and 8 injured. This does not include casualties from the Chuncheon Uiamho ship capsizing accident (3 dead, 3 missing).

Among nearly 6,000 disaster victims, 4,617 have not been able to return home.
Over 8 days, 9,419 facility damages have occurred. The number of roads closed has increased to 118 locations. Vehicle traffic has been blocked in various places such as Gwangju-Daegu, Suncheon-Wanju, and Daejeon-Tongyeong due to soil erosion. Train operations on seven railway lines including Chungbuk Line, Taebaek Line, Yeongdong Line, Gyeongjeon Line, Gwangju Line, Janghang Line, and Jeolla Line have been fully or partially suspended. Gwangju Airport’s runway was flooded, causing about 10 flights to be canceled.
