On the day, Prime Minister Chung inspected the damage recovery sites including Pyeongchon-myeon, Songak-myeon, Asan City, Chungnam, and said, "The damage from heavy rain has increased compared to the past," adding, "We will consider at the national level measures such as redesigning the damage recovery standards due to global warming."
Earlier, President Moon Jae-in declared seven local governments, including Asan in Chungnam, Anseong in Gyeonggi, Cheorwon in Gangwon, and Chungju, Jecheon, and Eumseong in Chungbuk, as special disaster areas on the 7th.
Prime Minister Chung comforted the disaster victims by visiting a temporary shelter set up at a nearby elementary school. He then urged the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and Asan City, Chungnam, "Please ensure permanent recovery rather than temporary measures so that the same damage does not occur again in the same area."
