[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] On the 8th, as heavy rain with a maximum hourly rainfall of 50mm fell in the southern region, a flood warning was issued around the Nakdong River near Samrangjin Bridge in Miryang City, Gyeongnam Province at 3 PM. This is the first flood warning issued for the Nakdong River due to this rain.
The Nakdong River Flood Control Office replaced the flood advisory issued for the area at 8:40 AM with a flood warning at 3 PM. A flood warning indicates a very high possibility of flooding or that flooding is currently occurring, so residents and vehicles in low-lying areas should evacuate promptly.
At 3:40 PM, a flood advisory was issued for the Seonghari area in Daegu City along the Nakdong River. Additionally, at 3:20 PM, a flood advisory was issued at the Gupo Bridge point downstream of the Nakdong River in Busan City.
Continuous inflow of rainwater from upstream is causing the water level of the Nakdong River to keep rising.
Earlier, at 9:30 AM, a flood advisory was issued for the Nakdong River area including Gyenari in Haman County, and due to the ongoing heavy rain, there is a high possibility it will be replaced with a flood warning, so caution is required.
As of 2 PM on this day, water levels are rising at most of the 17 major observation points along the Nakdong River.
Busan City and Gyeongnam Province have issued emergency evacuation measures including vehicle movement restrictions due to concerns about flooding in ecological parks and low-lying areas along the Nakdong River.
