According to Gyeongbuk Province on the 8th, as of midnight, the cumulative number of confirmed cases in the region is 1,368. The number of recovered patients and deaths remains the same as the previous day, at 1,296 and 58 respectively.
There are currently 14 confirmed patients in the Gyeongbuk area, receiving treatment at Andong Medical Center (11 patients) and hospitals in other cities and provinces (3 patients).
In Gyeongbuk, concerns about the spread of local infections arose after a 37-year-old woman living in Seongnam, Gyeonggi-do, who was confirmed positive after visiting her aunt’s house in Gyeongsan with her family on July 29, had her relatives test positive in succession. Following this woman’s 4-month-old child and aunt, her parents-in-law living in Gimcheon were also confirmed positive on the 6th.
Separately, from mid-July, overseas entrants arriving in Gyeongju, Gyeongsan, Chilgok, Yeongju, Yeongcheon, Andong, and other areas have been steadily testing positive one or two at a time at local screening health centers.
