[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hong Jae-hee] An 80-year-old man identified as A, suffering from dementia, has gone missing in Imsil-gun, Jeonbuk, and the police and fire department have been conducting a search for two days.

According to the police and fire authorities on the 7th, A (male, 87), who resides in Geumpyeong-ri, Jisa-myeon, Imsil-gun, left his home around 5:30 a.m. on the 5th and has been out of contact since then.

A’s family reported to the police that A, who has difficulty moving, left the house without carrying a mobile phone, making it impossible to reach him.

About 130 personnel including police officers, firefighters, and soldiers have been searching the area around Geumpyeong Village near A’s residence from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for two days, but the heavy rain in the Jeonbuk region has made the search difficult.

An official from the Imsil Fire Department said, “A police helicopter was scheduled to be dispatched, but due to worsening weather conditions, a rescue boat is being deployed for the search,” adding, “Although the weather conditions are unfavorable, the search will continue.”
