A Total of 2.25 Million Units
Specific Contract Amount Not Disclosed
[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Jae-hee] Switzerland has joined the line of hoarding COVID-19 vaccines.
On the 7th (local time), according to the AP News Agency, the Swiss federal government has agreed to receive 4.5 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine from the American pharmaceutical company Moderna.
Considering that the Moderna vaccine requires two doses for COVID-19 prevention, this contract amount corresponds to 2.25 million people.
The Federal Office of Public Health explained that this agreement is "to ensure that Switzerland can access the Moderna vaccine quickly."
It also added that it is supporting multilateral projects for the fair distribution of vaccines.
However, the health office did not mention the specific amount agreed upon with Moderna.
Meanwhile, Switzerland is also in talks with other vaccine companies and has allocated 300 million Swiss francs (approximately 390 billion KRW) solely for the budget to purchase COVID-19 vaccines.
