[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Yeon-ju] The police have launched an investigation after receiving a report that a citizen was injured by a bottle thrown by a US soldier.
Daegu Jungbu Police Station announced on the 7th that a report was received that a woman in her 20s, Ms. A, who was passing through Dongseong-ro in Jung-gu at around 2:25 a.m. on the 1st, was hit in the face by flying glass shards.
It is known that Ms. A sustained a 4 cm laceration on her right eyelid and received treatment at a nearby hospital due to the incident.
The police identified, based on witness statements and closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage, that a US soldier, Mr. B, who was nearby, threw the bottle.
Mr. B, who threw the bottle, was identified as belonging to Camp Carroll, a US military base located in Chilgok, Gyeongbuk.
A police official stated that the exact circumstances of the incident are under investigation.
