[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] SK Chemicals announced on the 7th that its consolidated operating profit for the second quarter of this year was tentatively estimated at 17.6 billion KRW, a 42% decrease compared to the same period last year. During the same period, sales amounted to 288.4 billion KRW, down 24.1%, while net profit increased by 1832.7% to 239.3 billion KRW.
An SK Chemicals official explained, "Although sales and operating profit decreased compared to the same period last year due to the exclusion of the bioenergy business division's performance, net profit significantly increased due to the reflection of gains from the sale of the bioenergy business."
