[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hong Jae-hee] Truck driver A (male, 46) and passenger B (female, 46), who were stranded due to the sudden flooding of a river caused by heavy rain in Iksan, Jeonbuk, were rescued by the 119 rescue team.
According to the Iksan Fire Station on the 7th, at around 10:56 a.m., the Iksancheon River in Cheonseori, Chunpo-myeon, rapidly rose, causing a truck to become stranded.
Responding to the report, the rescue team arrived at the scene within about 7 minutes, secured the vehicle with ropes and manual safety measures to prevent it from being swept away, and quickly rescued A and B using a water rescue tube.
A and B, who were rescued, said, "We were working in the rice field and were returning home when the Iksancheon River next to the farm road flooded due to heavy rain, making the road invisible, so we called 119," describing the situation at the time.
Woo Hyung-seon, captain of the 119 rescue team, said, "The quick report and response made the rescue possible," and added, "Due to the heavy rain, rivers are rapidly rising, and flooding and water rescue situations are expected. Residents living in low-lying areas should quickly evacuate to higher ground."
