[Asia Economy Reporter Park Sun-mi] Reflecting the idea of Yoon Jong-won, President of IBK Industrial Bank of Korea (IBK), who wished for an antibacterial card to block bacteria, IBK plans to expand the application of antibacterial functions to future card products.
On the 7th, IBK announced that it will launch a card that prevents the spread of bacteria and viruses on the 24th. The first product is the ‘DailyWith’ card, the first in Korea to have an antibacterial film coated on the card surface.
With 99.9% antibacterial effectiveness, it blocks the transmission of various bacteria and viruses, including the COVID-19 virus, during the process of handing over the card. This product reflects President Yoon’s idea of having an antibacterial card that customers can use without worrying about COVID-19 infection.
The card name ‘DailyWith’ combines ‘Daily,’ meaning to provide health and help to customers every day, and ‘With,’ meaning to always be with the customer.
The card is issued to individual members, with an annual fee of 12,000 KRW for domestic and international use, and 10,000 KRW for domestic use only. Benefits include ▲ unlimited 1% cashback in six major daily life areas (communication, transportation, dining, convenience stores, online shopping, hospitals) ▲ an additional 1% cashback in the most frequently used daily life area (up to 100,000 KRW per month) ▲ health checkup and funeral service support ▲ discounts on travel and accommodation facilities (3 times a year) ▲ access to an exclusive special price mall site.
An IBK official stated, “The World Health Organization (WHO) announced that the SARS coronavirus, which is similar to COVID-19, survives longer on plastic materials like cards than on fabric materials like banknotes. This card, with 99.9% antibacterial effectiveness, is a product that prioritizes the health of users, and IBK plans to expand the antibacterial function to future card products.”
