[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] The heavy rain that swept through the central region is moving down to the inland areas of Gyeongnam, where damage is expected.

As of 9 a.m. on the 7th, a heavy rain advisory has been issued for Jinju, Sancheong, Uiryeong, Hadong, Hamyang, Geochang, and Hapcheon in Gyeongnam, with heavy rainfall of up to 100mm expected mainly around Geochang, Hapcheon, and Hamyang.

According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, 50 to 100mm of rain will fall across the entire Gyeongnam region until the 8th.

The daytime high temperature is expected to be between 26 and 28 degrees Celsius.

Special caution is advised to prevent damage such as flooding in low-lying areas and farmland, landslides, and retaining wall collapses.

A meteorological official stated, “The low-pressure system and its accompanying front are periodically affecting the area, prolonging the duration of precipitation,” and added, “Heavy rain accompanied by gusts, thunder, and lightning will continue until tomorrow, so safety precautions are necessary.”
