Come First with Just Your Body to Experience Returning to Farming, Fishing, and Rural Living
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Yong-chul] Boseong County has been operating the ‘Living in Jeonnam First’ program since last year to help understand the cultural differences between urban and rural areas and to increase urban residents' interest in returning to farming.
According to Boseong County on the 6th, the ‘Living in Jeonnam First’ project allows those wishing to return to farming or rural life to stay from 5 days up to 60 days, providing opportunities to experience agricultural and fishing villages and acquire farming techniques and information.
Participants who complete more than 70% of the program tasks will receive free accommodation and program experience fees.
Boseong County welcomes urban residents through the ‘Living in Boseong First’ program. In particular, reflecting the region’s coastal characteristics, programs allowing participants to experience fishing villages have been prepared to increase the variety of choices.
Da-hyang Ullim Village in Hoecheon-myeon and Sky Fish School in Deukryang-myeon introduce and provide hands-on experience of farming life based on various income crops and livestock farming.
The Boknae-myeon Natural Dye Craft Center offers a specialized program linked from processing industries using local specialties to the sixth industrialization, including farm parties.
The specialized program (Natural Dye Craft Center), implemented for the first time this year, selects participants aged 18 to 49 who have returned to farming within 5 years or have experience participating in ‘Living in Jeonnam First’ for more than 30 days in the previous year. They receive technical training from experts possessing sixth industrialization skills using primary agricultural and marine products.
A county official said, “We started ‘Living in Boseong First’ for the first time last year, and it has received high interest from urban residents, with 94 participants so far, of whom 8 have decided to return to farming or rural life within the county. If you have the desire to return to farming or rural life, we hope you try this program first and then make your decision.”
‘Living in Boseong First’ will operate until November this year, and applications can be made on the Living in Jeonnam First website. For further inquiries, contact Sky Fish School, Da-hyang Ullim Village, or the Natural Dye Craft Center.
