[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jihwan] On the 6th, as the water level of the Han River rose, major roads in Seoul, including Dongbu Expressway, were closed in several places, causing expected traffic congestion during the evening commute.

According to Seoul City and the police, the entire section of Dongbu Expressway towards Seongsu and the section from Seongsu Junction to Wolreunggyo towards Uijeongbu have been closed. However, the section from Wolreunggyo to Surak Underpass towards Uijeongbu remains passable.

Gangbyeonbuk-ro is fully closed in both directions between Mapo Bridge and Hangang Bridge, and Olympic-daero is fully closed in both directions between Gayang Bridge and Banpo Bridge. The lower roads under Yeongdong 1-gyo on Yangjaecheon-ro in Seocho-gu, the lower roads under Umyeon Bridge, and the area near Jeungsan Cheolgyo underpass adjacent to Bulgwangcheon in Seodaemun-gu are also currently impassable.

The section of Nodeul-ro between Yanghwa Bridge and Hangang Bridge is also fully closed due to road flooding, and entry to Jamwon Overpass from Jamwon Interchange on the Gyeongbu Expressway is not allowed.

The police have deployed personnel for traffic management and urged the use of public transportation. On this day, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency plans to mobilize over 1,100 traffic police officers to manage traffic and minimize citizen inconvenience caused by evening rush hour congestion.
