Yeonggwang-gun Selected for Industrial Complex 'Complex Cultural Center Public Contest Project'

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jeon Seong] Yeonggwang-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Kim Jun-seong) announced on the 6th that the Daema Electric Vehicle Industrial Complex has been selected for the ‘Industrial Complex Complex Cultural Center’ contest project supported by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and hosted by the Korea Industrial Complex Corporation.

This second government contest project temporarily expanded support, which had previously been limited to aging industrial complexes and specialized industrial complexes, to all national and general industrial complexes in order to revitalize the economy, which has been stagnant due to COVID-19.

The county participated in the contest through prior consultation and collaboration with Jeollanam-do to expand the insufficient cultural and convenience facilities within the industrial complex and improve the welfare environment for workers. With this selection, it will receive 2.8 billion KRW in national funds and 360 million KRW in provincial funds.

The complex cultural center is planned to be built on the support facility site of the Daema Electric Vehicle Industrial Complex, with two above-ground floors and a total floor area of 1,220㎡. A total project cost of 4 billion KRW (2.8 billion KRW national funds, 1.2 billion KRW local funds) will be invested, with construction starting next year and completion scheduled for 2022.

Governor Kim Jun-seong said, “The construction of the complex cultural center is expected to greatly help secure the competitiveness of the industrial complex and alleviate the manpower shortage of small and medium-sized enterprises by improving the working environment.” He added, “We will do our best to make the Daema Electric Vehicle Industrial Complex, the center of the e-mobility industry, a premium industrial complex.”
