[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Jeonnam Province is launching a program to train field experts through the operation of the Urban Regeneration University.
According to Jeonnam Province on the 6th, the province had commissioned education to cities and counties from 2018 until last year, graduating a total of 130 people. However, starting this year, the province plans to operate the program through the Jeonnam Urban Regeneration Center, which is entrusted to the Gwangju-Jeonnam Research Institute.
The training will be held every Wednesday from October 12 to October 14 at the Gwangju-Jeonnam Research Institute.
It targets 40 people, including graduates of the city and county Urban Regeneration University, coordinators of Urban Regeneration Support Centers, and public officials.
The content mainly consists of theoretical education on understanding the Urban Regeneration New Deal policy, resident communication and conflict management, and team projects for discovering new businesses, along with practical training that allows participants to directly experience the project sites.
Graduates can participate as members of resident councils in Urban Regeneration New Deal project areas and take part in various resident public contest projects related to urban regeneration.
A Jeonnam Province official stated, “We will strictly adhere to COVID-19 prevention guidelines such as hand sanitization, socially distanced seating arrangements, and mask-wearing during the training,” adding, “Through this training, we hope that the trainees will gain a deeper understanding of urban regeneration and discover and promote resident-led urban regeneration projects.”
