[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Hamyang-gun, Gyeongnam announced on the 6th that the ‘Local Problem Solving Roundtable Discussion,’ where local residents participate on their own to discover issues and seek solutions for community problems, will be held at around 2 p.m. on the 14th in the large conference room of Hamyang-gun Office.

This discussion was conducted throughout July, regardless of age or social class, to share local problems and seek solutions, organized by the Gyeongnam Secretariat of the Local Problem Solving Platform and the Hamyang Innovators Network Preparatory Group.

In addition, discussions will be held by thematic subgroups under the facilitation of facilitators with residents who wish to participate on 12 agendas proposed from 14 story meetings.

Looking at the discussion agendas, there are a total of 12 topics including ‘Creating a Pedestrian and Bicycle-Friendly City,’ ‘Climate Crisis: If Not Now, Then Never,’ and ‘Building a Village Where Everyone Lives Well Together,’ covering various local issues such as safety, traffic problems, climate change, childbirth and childcare, youth, and community.

Hamyang-gun plans to write project proposals based on the discussed agendas and conduct a matching event for commercialization with the participation of about 90 public institutions at the Social Innovation Expo to be held in Gyeongnam Province in September.

Mr. Park, a resident of Hamyang, said, “It was a valuable time to share opinions with others about the local problems I have been thinking about and to consider solutions,” adding, “I hope many people participate in the roundtable discussion to gather opinions together to create a better Hamyang and a Hamyang where everyone is happy.”
