Haenam Sarang Gift Certificates Surpass 100 Billion Won in Sales

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Hyun] Haenam-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 6th that the Haenam Love Gift Certificate surpassed sales of 100 billion won as of the 3rd, just 15 months after its issuance.

This achievement was reached 15 months and 15 days after its issuance on April 17 of last year, marking the shortest period and highest sales amount among local governments in Jeollanam-do.

The reason for this success is analyzed to be the rapid promotion of local currency issuance as a key task of the 7th elected administration, along with an active sales strategy and aggressive publicity.

Additionally, the ‘Purchase Relay Event’ involving corporations and organizations in the first year of issuance contributed significantly, with sales reaching 1 billion won in 8 months and 1.3 billion won as of the end of last month, indicating sustained positive response to the local currency.

Furthermore, the increase in various policy issuances due to COVID-19 has also been a great help. Above all, securing 7.17 billion won in national and provincial subsidies for discount sales since issuance has energized the local economy by promoting events such as two 10% discount sales this year, resulting in sales of 54 billion won.

Haenam-gun is preparing to evolve the issuance format so that the Haenam Love Gift Certificate can continue to provide steady vitality to the region. Currently, efforts are underway to introduce electronic local currency starting January next year by adding one type of paper certificate, with plans to allow users to choose between mobile and card types.

In addition to the issuance format, preparations are also being made to amend ordinances to accommodate various opinions from residents gathered during the operation process, such as raising the annual discount purchase limit.
