Galaxy Z Fold2 Unboxed by BTS: "It's Innovation" Praise
On the night of the 5th, at the first-ever online 'Galaxy Unpacked 2020,' Tae-moon Roh, President of Samsung Electronics' Wireless Business Division, introduced the 'Galaxy Note20 Ultra.'
[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] "We said we would change the world with technology, but now the opposite is true. The world has changed us."
On the 5th, Samsung Electronics Wireless Business Division President (CEO) No Tae-moon defined the 'Next Normal' at the Galaxy Unpacked event held online. The unprecedented online Unpacked event and the flood of new products led by the Galaxy Note20 show the daily life changed by the COVID-19 pandemic. This is why President No's commitment to "changing the way we communicate, not just technology" does not sound hollow.
The Unpacked event, which lasted 90 minutes from 11 p.m. on the 5th, was watched by a staggering 56 million people worldwide. There was no roaring applause or standing ovations filling the venue as if the building would collapse. However, when Federico Casalegno, Executive Vice President of the Wireless Business Division Experience Planning Team, appeared on the virtual studio stage, the faces of about 300 global Galaxy fans appeared simultaneously on the stage screen. The special guests connected via video from their own spaces waved light sticks and applauded whenever new products were unveiled. Holding the 'Galaxy Note20 Ultra' in his hand and stepping onto the stage, President No smiled broadly and waved to them.
President No introduced the 'Galaxy 5 siblings': ▲Galaxy Note20 ▲Galaxy Z Fold2 ▲Galaxy Tab S7 ▲Galaxy Watch3 ▲Galaxy Buds Live ▲Galaxy Watch3. He started by saying that so much has changed since the San Francisco Unpacked event in February, explaining, "The Galaxy Note20 is powerful like a PC or a console," and "From smartwatches that act as health managers to earbuds that coordinate every moment of life, intelligent connectivity will help you focus on what matters." Instead of the usual North American presenters, employees from the Wireless Business Division working at the Suwon and Umyeon campuses appeared as speakers, drawing attention.
Galaxy Note20 Concentrates Technological Excellence

The Galaxy Note20 series is released in two models: a 6.7-inch flat screen standard model and a 6.9-inch Ultra model that integrates the latest technology in screen, S Pen, and camera. When asked which model to choose, President No confidently said, "For loyal Note users, the powerful Ultra is perfect, and for new users, the Note20 provides the core features needed for work and play. Either way, it will be the best productivity tool."
The Galaxy Note20 and Galaxy Tab S7 have enhanced memo functions to enable PC-like work during classes and work. Imery, a member of the Wireless Business Division, demonstrated Samsung Notes by circling the diagonally written word "Hello," which then straightened horizontally. When the handwritten sentence was dragged, the recorded voice from that section played. Unlike previous Unpacked events focused mainly on product introductions, this online Unpacked featured developers directly sharing behind-the-scenes development stories and technologies. They cited the point prediction technology, which predicts the pen's trajectory to minimize response time, as the secret to reducing the S Pen's latency.
The Galaxy Note20 transforms into a PC for work and a mobile console for gaming. The 'DeX feature,' which allows the smartphone to be used like a PC, now supports wireless connection. The Galaxy Note20 was operated like a laptop touchpad, allowing users to watch videos stored on the smartphone on a large screen. Special guest gamer MYTH appeared and demonstrated playing Xbox console games by connecting the Galaxy Note20 with an Xbox game controller.

When introducing the final stage product, the 'Galaxy Z Fold2,' BTS appeared in a video. BTS unboxed the Galaxy Z Fold2 themselves, repeatedly exclaiming, "It's innovation." They folded the Fold at a 90-degree angle, took selfies together, and enjoyed viewing photos on the 7.6-inch screen. Regarding the Galaxy Z Fold2, which was shrouded in secrecy until just before launch, President No said, "It is designed to be the most suitable for the form factor, and we are pleased to learn about the strong desire for Fold S Pen support this time," adding, "Please watch what will happen."
The detailed specifications of the Galaxy Z Fold2 will be revealed on September 1. It boasts a larger 6.2-inch cover screen and a 7.6-inch main screen, offering a tablet-like display. A teaser video of the premium package 'Galaxy Z Fold2 Thom Browne Edition,' created in collaboration with Thom Browne, was also unveiled. President No emphasized, "We are not just innovating technology but innovating experiences."
