[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] It has been confirmed that some overseas nationals suffered property damage due to a large-scale explosion that occurred in Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, on the 4th (local time).


The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated on the 6th regarding the Beirut explosion accident, "So far, no casualties have been reported to the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Lebanon." However, it added, "It has been confirmed that two overseas nationals suffered minor property damage, including partial damage to their homes."


The Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Lebanon formed an emergency response team immediately after the accident and is checking for any damage to overseas nationals.


The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, "The Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Lebanon is cooperating with the Lebanese government to continuously verify whether our nationals have been affected and will provide necessary consular assistance if damage is confirmed."


Meanwhile, according to the Lebanese Ministry of Health on the same day, the two explosions in Beirut resulted in 135 deaths and 5,000 injuries. The estimated damage cost is projected to reach between 12 trillion and 18 trillion won.
