Room Service Using Delivery Robots Starts at H AVENUE Konkuk University Branch
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] Baedal Minjok (hereinafter Baemin)'s indoor delivery robot 'Dilly Tower' is starting room service at hotels. Hotel guests can use room service without meeting staff, and hotels can offer various products 24 hours a day, which is expected to greatly increase satisfaction. Woowa Brothers, the operator of Baemin (CEO Kim Beom-jun), announced on the 6th that they have started robot delivery room service at H AVENUE Konkuk University branch in Hwayang-dong, Gwangjin-gu, Seoul.
With the introduction of Baemin's robot delivery room service, hotel guests can now use various delivery services in their rooms through the Baemin app. While robot room service had been limited to simple delivery, now ordering, payment, and delivery can all be done at once through the Baemin app and the robot. Guests can scan the QR code placed in each hotel room with the Baemin app to view menus of available items such as supplies or food and beverages. After selecting the menu and making payment, Dilly Tower delivers to the door. Upon arrival at the room door, Dilly calls the customer to notify that it is there. Guests can use the robot's room service to receive restaurant dishes, drinks, and even simple hygiene products with just a few taps on the Baemin app in their room.
Baemin's robot delivery room service is expected to bring additional revenue to hotels. While traditional room minibars offered limited products, robot delivery room service can provide a variety of products and food and beverages. Moreover, as robots handle delivery tasks, staff can focus on other services, which can overall improve service quality.
Woowa Brothers plans to utilize delivery robots not only in hotels but also in various fields such as apartments and offices. Earlier in April, they signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Hyundai Elevator and equipped technology to link elevators with robots. On the 2nd of last month, they signed an MOU with Hanwha Construction to introduce delivery robots in apartments. They also plan to launch the nation's first inter-floor delivery robot service in apartments in February 2021.
Kim Yo-seop, head of Woowa Brothers' Robot Business Division, said, "Hotel guests can now use room service from ordering to payment and delivery with just one Baemin app," adding, "Woowa Brothers plans to gradually expand the application areas of delivery robots."
