[Asia Economy New York=Correspondent Baek Jong-min] U.S. President Donald Trump has indicated that he might deliver his Republican presidential nomination acceptance speech at the White House.
In an interview with Fox News on the 5th (local time), President Trump said regarding the acceptance speech, "We are thinking about it. We are considering doing it at the White House."
While noting that no final decision has been made, Trump said, "That is the easiest option. From the country's perspective, it is definitely the least costly," adding, "I will probably do it live from the White House."
The Republican Party had planned to hold its convention from the 24th to the 27th of this month in Jacksonville, Florida, where the presidential nominee would be officially nominated and deliver the acceptance speech. However, President Trump abruptly canceled the event citing the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
On the same day, President Trump stated that by revoking Hong Kong's special status, U.S. stock exchanges would conduct more business and generate more revenue domestically.
He said, "For freedom, we gave them tremendous incentives. They took large-scale business away from the New York Stock Exchange, Nasdaq, and all our exchanges," adding, "Now we will be able to make more money."
