According to the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the 5th, State Councilor Wang Yi said in an interview with Xinhua News Agency, "Some political forces in the United States are hostile toward China and are harassing us with all kinds of lies."
He pointed out, "They are trying to damage China-US relations, dragging the two countries back into conflict and confrontation, and pushing the world into turmoil and division again." He raised his voice, saying, "China strongly opposes the artificial creation of a 'new Cold War.'"
State Councilor Wang Yi criticized firmly, "A new Cold War goes against the fundamental interests of both countries. Anyone who tries to start a new Cold War in the 21st century will be on the opposite side of historical progress, becoming the greatest destroyer of international cooperation and a disgrace in history."
He added, "Today, China is not the former Soviet Union, and we have no interest in becoming a second United States." He said, "As the world's largest developing country and a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, China will follow the path of peaceful development and become a guardian of international order and peace."
