Learning While Working at University: Dongseo University 'Eomjicheok' Dongseo University was selected as an excellent university for two consecutive years in the IPP-type Work-Learning Dual System Joint Training Center evaluation.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Dongseo University has been selected as an excellent university for two consecutive years in the ‘Work-Learn’ university project evaluation.

Dongseo University announced on the 5th that its IPP-type Work-Learn Parallel Project Group within the university was selected as an excellent university for two consecutive years in the ‘2019 IPP-type Work-Learn Parallel Joint Training Center Performance Evaluation,’ following 2018.

This evaluation was hosted by the Ministry of Employment and Labor and conducted by the Korea University of Technology and Education’s Vocational Competency Assessment Institute. It assessed 146 joint training centers for enrolled students and P-TECH Work-Learn Parallel programs in 2019 based on organizational capability, project execution capability, project performance, and participant satisfaction.

In 2019, Dongseo University conducted NCS-based job training and field internships for a total of 136 students from 81 companies.

Participants in the Work-Learn Parallel program transitioned to regular workers after completing the course, resulting in 104 IPP (long-term field internship) participants securing employment.

Dongseo University prepared IPP scholarships totaling 160 million KRW to reduce the burden on companies and support participating students. The university received high evaluations for its efforts to form a win-win industry-academia cooperation relationship by supporting field internship expenses and providing corporate consulting.

The university was selected as an operating university for the IPP-type Work-Learn Parallel Project in 2017 and has been focusing on establishing an industry-academia cooperation model and nurturing talent tailored to industrial sites.

Every January, the university holds a performance report meeting inviting participating companies and outstanding students. They present appreciation plaques to companies and share project achievements, continuously working to expand the IPP-type Work-Learn Parallel Project and strengthen industry-academia networking.

Kwack Joon-sik, head of the IPP Project Group, said, “We will continue efforts to discover excellent local companies and successfully develop NCS-based curricula tailored to corporate demands, nurturing differentiated talent that grows together with companies.”
