[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Jong-hwa] Hanssem, a comprehensive home interior specialist company, has had its Living Environment Technology Research Institute recognized as a testing institution that meets international standards.

Hanssem's Living Environment Technology Research Institute is responsible for research and development of eco-friendly products and services, environmental safety quality testing and assurance through a systematic quality assurance system, serving as a think tank in the field of product and service environmental safety.

Hanssem announced on the 5th that its Living Environment Technology Research Institute was recognized as an internationally accredited testing institution by KOLAS (Korea Laboratory Accreditation Scheme), a Korean accreditation body under the National Institute of Technology and Standards of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, as of the 30th of last month.

KOLAS accreditation internationally recognizes testing capabilities in the relevant field, and the areas Hanssem was accredited for include 19 testing fields related to 'indoor and other environments.'

Through this, it has been officially proven that the formaldehyde and volatile organic compound emission tests related to furniture and building materials, as well as the process tests for indoor air quality evaluation conducted by Hanssem's Living Environment Technology Research Institute, possess an international-level quality management system and analytical technology.

Accordingly, the analysis results and test reports measured by Hanssem's Living Environment Technology Research Institute will have the same validity as test reports issued by 116 accreditation bodies in 104 countries that are members of the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC).

Hanssem's Living Environment Technology Research Institute has been thoroughly preparing to be recognized as an accredited testing institution and has now been recognized as an internationally accredited testing institution after undergoing strict on-site evaluations of its organization, facilities, and personnel. Currently, Hanssem is the only company in the furniture industry recognized as a KOLAS testing institution in the chemical field.

Kim Hong-kwang, director of Hanssem's Living Environment Technology Research Institute, said, "Hanssem's Living Environment Technology Research Institute has secured international credibility by being recognized as an internationally accredited testing institution," adding, "We will continue to strive to play a leading role in improving residential environments and enhancing and developing industry competitiveness through the development of eco-friendly materials and construction methods."
