Chungnam Provincial Audit Committee Promotes 'Active Administration' to Resolve Residents' Grievances

[Asia Economy (Naepo) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] The Chungnam Provincial Audit Committee is playing a role in resolving residents' grievances through proactive administration.


According to the provincial audit committee on the 5th, the number of grievance complaints received by the province in the first half of this year was 409, an increase of 30 cases compared to 379 cases in the first half of last year.


Among them, the provincial audit committee received 167 grievance complaints, directly resolved 87 cases, and handled the remaining 80 cases by suggesting alternatives.


The grievance complaints handled by the provincial audit committee were received through mobile and internet (74 cases), documents (53 cases), and visits (40 cases). By sector, general administration had the most complaints with 72 cases, followed by construction and transportation with 51 cases, service-related with 21 cases, forest and environment with 12 cases, health and welfare with 8 cases, and agriculture, forestry, and fisheries with 3 cases.


The number of complaints by region was tallied as follows: Naepo (province) 48 cases, Cheonan 17 cases, Yesan 14 cases, Seocheon and Taean 12 cases each, Nonsan 11 cases, Gongju 10 cases, Dangjin 9 cases, Seosan, Geumsan, and Cheongyang 6 cases each, Boryeong and Asan 5 cases each, Buyeo 3 cases, Hongseong 2 cases, and Gyeryong 1 case.


Kim Jong-young, chairman of the provincial audit committee, said, “Recently, grievance complaints related to general administration and construction and transportation have been increasing significantly. The provincial audit committee will strive to implement a trusted provincial government by handling the grievances and inconveniences of complainants reasonably and promptly.”


Meanwhile, grievance complaints refer to complaints arising from violations or unfairness by administrative agencies, passive dispositions, or unreasonable administrative systems that infringe on citizens' rights or cause inconvenience and burden.


Recently, as awareness of rights has increased and methods of receiving complaints have diversified, the number of grievance complaints has also been on the rise.
