[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] GS Retail announced on the 4th that it delivered emergency relief supplies to disaster victims in Danyang-gun, Chungbuk, who suffered damage from heavy rain.
On the 3rd, GS Retail received an urgent request from Danyang-gun Office and provided emergency relief supplies consisting of 500 servings of food items such as instant rice, ramen, and bottled water to residents of Danyang-gun, Chungbuk, who were affected by the sudden heavy rain.
Danyang-gun, Chungbuk, confirmed that about 150 households became disaster victims due to significant damage including house flooding caused by the sudden heavy rain.
Accordingly, GS Retail promptly prepared ready-to-eat food supplies for the disaster victims and delivered them as relief supplies to Danyang-gun Office, and these supplies were prioritized for distribution to the disaster victims staying at various shelters.
This emergency relief support by GS Retail is the second case following the provision of about 1,000 bottles of water to an apartment complex in Dong-gu, Busan, on the 27th of last month.
As heavy rain continues nationwide causing ongoing human and material damage, GS Retail is operating a 24-hour hotline for regional support requests and is actively engaged in flood damage assistance and recovery efforts.
A GS Retail official stated, "As heavy rain continues across the country causing numerous damages, GS Retail is mobilizing all available channels to focus on helping affected residents," adding, "We will do our best to provide urgently needed relief supplies promptly and appropriately."
