[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Min Jun-young] Actor Lee Young-ha stated that he will not reunite with his ex-wife Sunwoo Eun-sook.
On the 3rd, SBS Plus variety show 'Do You Eat Well?' featured actors Nam Po-dong and Lee Young-ha.
During the broadcast, Lee Young-ha recalled his childhood, saying, "When I was in elementary school, I wore a leather jumper and a leather hat to school. At that time, there was no synthetic leather."
He continued, "Back then, photojournalists looked cool. So I started collecting antique cameras from that time," adding, "Cameras were rare then. I felt it was a shame to keep them to myself, so I am preparing to establish a camera museum in Jeju Island."
Regarding his childhood dream, he said, "I wasn't thinking about becoming an actor; I was obsessed with The Beatles. They were as popular as BTS is nowadays. The Beatles were my goal," and added, "In high school, I formed a group band and was active, so I didn't go to college. I auditioned at the US 8th Army and passed."
He added, "After that, I worked as a theater actor for about 10 years. Those memories are deeply rooted," and said, "Sometimes I go to Daehangno to watch plays and treat juniors to dinners. I advise them that there are no small actors, only small roles. I also started as an extra."
He also spoke about the reason for his divorce from Sunwoo Eun-sook in 2007, saying, "The problem was personality differences," and "I was the cause."
He explained, "I had many people around me. I met friends and juniors and even did filming, so I must have been very busy," and added, "I didn't have time to reflect on myself. Even when I had some free time, friends came before family."
He continued, "But even after the divorce, I still frequently interact with Sunwoo Eun-sook as friends," and said, "We still spend time together on our children's birthdays and holidays like Chuseok and Seollal. We even eat rice cake soup together."
In response, Kim Soo-mi said, "You seem like Hollywood actors," and asked, "Do you have any plans to reunite with Sunwoo Eun-sook?"
Lee Young-ha replied, "It's very comfortable now. The kids also say they like this situation," and added, "We've been apart for 13 years, so it's actually better this way."
He further said, "Recently, I had a meal with Sunwoo Eun-sook, and she said, 'I think I'll miss you when I get older.' She also said not to worry if I get sick later because she will take care of me. That was a bit touching."
He concluded, "I have no intention of remarrying, not only with her but with any other woman," and said, "First, because of the children, and second, because many people look for me. My philosophy is to live without shame."
