[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] GS Retail is strengthening its position as a mobility platform by partnering with Nexen Tire to offer tire rental services.
Starting on the 5th, GS Retail will sell Nexen Tire’s ‘NEXT LEVEL Rental’ service products beginning with its supermarket GS The Fresh. From the 25th, the service will expand nationwide to GS25 convenience stores, increasing customer accessibility to the rental service through over 15,000 offline retail locations.
‘NEXT LEVEL Rental’ is a service where customers can rent tires and receive regular tire inspections and vehicle maintenance. It is a rental service product from Nexen Tire, which has surpassed 700,000 cumulative sales. In the metropolitan area, customers can also receive a contactless service where tires are replaced at their desired location and time.
For the rental service, customers can visit GS The Fresh or GS25 stores and inquire with staff or scan the rental service mobile QR code posted inside the store with their smartphones to submit a consultation request. Then, at the desired time, a tire specialist will call the customer to assist with purchasing the service product remotely.
For three months after the launch, customers who purchase the rental service product through GS The Fresh and GS25 will receive a mobile gift certificate usable at GS The Fresh and GS25, respectively, worth 5,000 KRW per tire, up to a maximum of 20,000 KRW, provided the following month.
GS Retail has been expanding various mobility platform services through offline retail stores, including ▲electric vehicle charger operation ▲highway unpaid toll inquiry and payment service ▲Hi-Pass charging and device sales ▲electric kickboard charging.
Kim Sanghyun, MD in charge of service products at GS Retail, said, “As ultra-simple and untact consumption culture spreads, GS Retail aims to introduce various service product partnerships that transcend boundaries. Going forward, over 15,000 GS Retail stores will provide convenient access to local consumers and strengthen their role as an offline mobility platform.”
