On the First Day of 'Social Distancing Easing' in Gwangju, 2 Confirmed Cases...Low Risk of Transmission

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] On the first day that social distancing was eased to level 1 in Gwangju, 2 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed. Both were diagnosed during self-quarantine, so there is no concern of community transmission.

According to Gwangju Metropolitan City on the 4th, a woman in her 20s living in Sangmu Line Daeju 2nd Complex, Chipyeong-dong, Seo-gu, and a man in his 50s living in a house in Geumgok-dong, Buk-gu, were confirmed positive for COVID-19 the previous day.

They were classified as Gwangju cases number 206 and 207.

Case 206 is the wife of case 202, who was confirmed positive on the 23rd of last month.

Since her husband was confirmed positive, she was classified as a close contact and was in self-quarantine. When symptoms such as loss of smell appeared, a specimen was collected and tested on the same day.

Case 202 had contact with case 197, who in turn had contact with case 192. The infection route of case 192 is still unknown, making them a ‘dark figure’ patient.

Case 207 is an overseas entrant who arrived from Uzbekistan on the 21st of last month.

Upon arrival in Gwangju, he was quarantined according to guidelines, and tested positive before the end of his self-quarantine. It is reported that he did not show any particular symptoms.

Meanwhile, since the second wave of COVID-19 began in Gwangju on the 27th of last month, 174 people have been confirmed positive.

By infection route, 40 cases are related to Gwangju Sarang Church, 32 to Geumyang Officetel, 30 to Ilgok Central Church, 14 to Gwangju Gosi Academy, 14 to a badminton club, 8 to Gwangneuksa Temple, 12 from contact with other cities (Songpa case 60), 9 from contact with confirmed cases (Gwangju case 192), 11 imported cases, and 3 under investigation.

By age group, there are 5 under 10 years old, 7 in their teens, 7 in their 20s, 14 in their 30s, 23 in their 40s, 38 in their 50s, 46 in their 60s, 21 in their 70s, 8 in their 80s, and 5 in their 90s.

From the 27th of last month to the current day (as of 8 a.m.), the daily case counts have been 4→4→3→12→22→6→8→16→7→6→8→15→3→9→5→7→1→1→1→5→0→10→1→0→4→9→2→0→1→0→0→1→0→0→0→1→0→2.
