[Asia Economy (Naepo) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] The monsoon rain in the central region has temporarily subsided. However, heavy rain warnings remain in effect for 12 cities and counties in Chungnam (excluding Gyeoryong, Geumsan, and Nonsan) and Sejong, while heavy rain advisories have been issued for Daejeon, Gyeryong, and Geumsan. The Korea Meteorological Administration forecasts heavy rain in Daejeon, Sejong, and Chungnam from the 4th to the 5th, raising concerns about additional damage.

According to the Daejeon Regional Meteorological Administration on the 4th, from this day until the 5th, the northern part of Chungnam is expected to receive an average of 100mm to 300mm of rain, with a maximum exceeding 500mm.

Additionally, the KMA anticipates that Daejeon, Sejong, and southern Chungnam will receive an average of 50mm to 100mm of rain, with a maximum exceeding 150mm.

Heavy rain fell the previous day as well, causing rivers and reservoirs to overflow and resulting in landslides and flooding in the central region, where concerns about further damage are mounting.

On the 3rd, in Asan, three people went missing after being swept away by rapid currents, and 19 displaced persons (3 in Dangjin, 1 in Buyeo, and 15 in Yesan, tentatively) were reported.

Furthermore, part of the embankment collapsed at Byeongcheoncheon in Susin-myeon, Cheonan, and roads were washed away in Dosan-ri, Dogo-myeon, Asan, and Jangbok-ri, Daesul-myeon, Yesan-gun. Major roads near KTX Cheonan-Asan Station, in front of Sinbang-dong Community Center, and at the sewage treatment plant in Bokmo-ri, Seonghwan-eup, were submerged, causing damage to vehicles and commercial buildings.

On the same day in Sejong, Daegokgyo Bridge in Daegok 1-ri collapsed, and low-lying areas in Daegok 2-ri were flooded. Additionally, agricultural damage (29.9 hectares, 77 households) and landslides (access road to Haebabi Camping Site in Daegok-ri, Sojeong-myeon) occurred consecutively.

Meanwhile, as of the 4th, the Chungnam Fire Headquarters has resumed search operations for missing persons. Approximately 230 personnel, including military, police, and city officials, have been deployed in Songak-myeon and Tangjeong-myeon, Asan, to intensively search for the missing.
