Providing Various Policy Proposal Opportunities for Children and Adolescents... Document Submission Open Until August 31... Pre-Competition Briefing and Policy Proposal Training Registration Open Until the 7th
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Chaehyunil) is recruiting participants for the ‘1st Open Child Talk Talk’ until the 31st to listen to the voices of children and adolescents and reflect them in district administration.
This competition allows children and adolescents to propose policies suitable for their own perspectives, providing opportunities for participation in district administration and policy discovery. It also aims to strengthen their capabilities as democratic citizens and promote the ‘Yeongdeungpo-type Child-Friendly Policy’ to create a child-friendly city where basic rights are guaranteed.
Eligible participants are children and adolescents aged 9 to 17 residing in Yeongdeungpo-gu or students from 4th grade elementary to high school located in Yeongdeungpo, and they can participate in groups of 2 to 5 members.
Proposal topics include six designated tasks directly related to the lives of children and adolescents: ▲play and leisure ▲participation and citizenship ▲safety and protection ▲health and hygiene ▲educational environment ▲family environment, or one free topic related to the happiness of children and adolescents.
Children and adolescents wishing to apply can download the application form, policy proposal form, and other related documents from the Yeongdeungpo-gu website’s notices and announcements section, fill them out, and submit them via email to the person in charge at haebonpeople@naver.com.
The district will conduct a fair preliminary screening based on sincerity, effectiveness, and sustainability of the policy proposals by August 31, and the teams advancing to the finals will be selected on September 4.
The five finalist teams will be posted on the Yeongdeungpo-gu website.
Additionally, on August 9 and 16, a pre-workshop titled ‘Policy Proposal Capacity Building Education’ will be held at Yeouido Underland to introduce know-how on policy proposals.
Children and adolescents wishing to attend the education can register by phone with the Child-Friendly Team of the Child and Youth Welfare Division at Yeongdeungpo-gu Office by August 7.
The selected finalist teams will revise and supplement their proposals through a policy proposal workshop on September 6, and the final award-winning teams will be determined after a 15-minute presentation and Q&A session per team on September 24.
There will be a total of five award-winning teams: one grand prize, two excellence awards, and two merit awards, with certificates awarded by the Yeongdeungpo District Mayor.
Excellent ideas adopted through this competition will be actively reflected in district administration after review by each department, confirming policy feasibility, budget availability, and related measures.
Chaehyunil, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, said, “This competition was held to discover Yeongdeungpo-type child-friendly policies,” adding, “We will actively reflect the voices of children and adolescents to lay the foundation for a child-friendly city.”
