Dobong-gu 'Community Centers and Village Vitality Hubs' Gradual Resumption of Operations


[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Dobong-gu (Mayor Lee Dong-jin) will gradually resume the operation of community spaces such as autonomous community centers and village vitality centers, which had been temporarily closed since the 3rd.


Following the adjustment of strengthened quarantine measures in the metropolitan area by the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters, village facilities that had been completely closed since February 5th to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the local community will reopen after six months.


Before reopening, the district established a thorough quarantine system by installing a facial recognition temperature measurement system and introducing an electronic entry log (KI-Pass) at community centers to create a safe environment for residents to use the facilities.


Based on the enhanced quarantine measures, a total of 28 facilities will be opened and operated in stages by type: 13 autonomous community centers, 6 Dong village vitality centers, and 9 village community spaces.


From August 3rd, 15 facilities will be available for use, including Ssangmun 4-dong cultural lectures (Hanji craft), Banghak 1-dong village vitality center, and Dream-Making Village Bangagol.


For autonomous community center cultural lectures, classes with a low risk of droplet exposure, such as humanities and language courses, will be prioritized for opening. Sports and singing classes like dance and yoga, as well as classes for vulnerable groups, will be opened depending on the COVID-19 situation.


Dong village vitality centers and village community spaces will operate on a 100% advance reservation basis. Facility use will be allowed within 50% of the appropriate capacity for each space.


Even during facility operation, strict adherence to daily life distancing rules will be maintained, including mandatory mask-wearing for visitors, maintaining a sufficient distance of over 2 meters, provision of personal protective equipment (such as hand sanitizers), ventilation at least twice a day, and regular disinfection. The quarantine implementation status will also be inspected frequently.


Lee Dong-jin, Mayor of Dobong-gu, said, “We will ensure that residents can use the facilities with peace of mind by establishing a thorough quarantine system, and we hope that community spaces such as autonomous community centers and vitality centers will serve as an opportunity for residents exhausted by COVID-19 to regain vitality in their daily lives.”
