On the 22nd, an Online Roundtable Discussion to Create a Child-Friendly City... Recruiting 100 Participants Including 70 Children and 30 Adults for Online Discussions from July 22 to August 14
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gangdong-gu (Mayor Lee Jeong-hoon) will hold an online roundtable discussion on the 22nd under the theme "You and Me, Together We Create a Child-Friendly City, Gangdong," with 100 children, adolescents, and residents participating.
Through this discussion, the district plans to gather diverse opinions from children, adolescents, local residents, and experts to establish a vision for creating a child-friendly city and set policy directions that guarantee children's rights and safety. The outcomes will be used as materials for the 2021 child-friendly city re-certification.
The discussion will bring together 100 participants, including children and adolescents who are the main stakeholders of child policies, and residents, to engage in group online discussions on six areas of child-friendliness: play and leisure, participation and civic awareness, safety and protection, health and social services, educational environment, and residential environment.
To prevent the spread of COVID-19, the district will conduct the discussion remotely using a video conferencing system. Participants will join one of 12 group online discussion rooms via the video conferencing app (ZOOM) from their individual spaces using PCs or mobile phones.
To facilitate smooth discussions, facilitators will be assigned to each group. Presenters, facilitators, and other staff will lead the discussions together with participants through online video from the district office's 5th-floor auditorium.
Participants include children and adolescents aged 10 to 18, parents, child experts, and any residents interested in creating a child-friendly city. Recruitment for 70 children and 30 adults will be on a first-come, first-served basis through the Gangdong-gu Office website until August 14.
Mayor Lee Jeong-hoon stated, "This discussion is an opportunity for children and residents to directly participate in child-friendly policy projects as a new leap forward for the second phase of creating a child-friendly city. We will successfully implement policies that guarantee children's participation and rights to make a better city for children and adolescents."
In March, Gangdong-gu conducted a child status survey and child impact assessment research involving 3,463 children, guardians, child-related personnel, and child rights advocates. The research results and various opinions from this discussion will be actively reflected in the establishment of the basic plan for the next four years (2021?2024).
