[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] SK D&D announced on the 3rd that it has signed a shareholder agreement with Ido and Plaspo, joint participants of the special purpose corporation ‘Daehoji Solar Park,’ to actively promote a large-scale solar power generation project in the salt-damaged farmland area of Daehoji-myeon, Dangjin.
‘Daehoji Solar Park’ is a special purpose corporation established on June 16 through joint investment by SK D&D, Ido, and Plaspo for a solar power generation project in Saseong-ri and Jeokseo-ri areas of Daehoji-myeon, Dangjin City. The shareholder agreement covers the division of tasks for project progress and operation: SK D&D will oversee project development and engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC); Ido will be responsible for operation and maintenance (O&M); and Plaspo will hold the rights and obligations related to inverter supply.
‘Daehoji Solar Park’ plans to develop a solar power plant with a maximum capacity of 300MW, starting with a 50MW first phase in the Saseong-ri and Jeokseo-ri areas of Daehoji-myeon, Dangjin City. Currently, the salt-damaged farmland sites in Daehoji-myeon are being secured, with the electricity business permit for the 50MW first phase in Saseong-ri expected to be completed in the second half of this year, and commercial operation scheduled to begin within 2022.
SK D&D, which will oversee project development, procurement, and EPC, provides total solutions from development to design, procurement, construction, and stable operation and maintenance, based on years of experience in renewable energy projects such as solar, wind, ESS, and fuel cells.
SK D&D is the largest ESS operator in Korea, owning and operating a total of 800MW of ESS across 28 sites nationwide. In addition, following the completion of the Gasiri Wind Power Plant (30MW) and Uljin Wind Power Plant (54MW) last year, SK D&D will become the largest private wind power developer in Korea upon starting construction of the Gunwi Wind Power Plant (83MW) this year. Furthermore, since the 2012 Yeongam F1 Circuit Solar Power Plant (13.3MW) in Jeonnam, SK D&D has accumulated capabilities and experience in solar power construction and operation totaling about 30MW, including the Daegu Sewage Treatment Plant Solar Power Plant (7.7MW), Suncheon Sewage Treatment Plant (1MW), and Dangjin Eco Power Solar (9.8MW).
Kim Hae-jung, Executive in charge of Eco Green at SK D&D, stated, "We will actively respond to the government’s renewable energy policies such as the Green New Deal and hydrogen economy to solidify our position as Korea’s top eco-friendly energy developer." He added, "We will create a profit-sharing model that coexists with the local community by sharing the profits generated from the solar power project in Daehoji-myeon, Saseong-ri and Jeokseo-ri, and contribute to the sustainable development of the region."
