[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongwook Park] Andong City, Gyeongbuk Province, announced on the 31st that it will officially embark on the 'Gyeongbuk Bio Phase 2 General Industrial Complex Development Project,' which embodies the aspiration for regional development.

This industrial complex is being developed on a 496,000㎡ site in Maegok-ri, Pungsan-eup, Andong, with a target completion date in the second half of 2023. It is being developed in connection with the Gyeongbuk Industrial Hemp (HEMP) Regulatory Free Zone project.

At the construction site on the 31st, Andong Mayor Kwon Young-se, who attended the safety prayer ceremony organized by the project implementers and constructors, urged, "Let's not rush and do our best in safety management to create a disaster-free Gyeongbuk Bio Phase 2 General Industrial Complex."

Meanwhile, as the number of companies wishing to move into the bio industrial complex increases, Gyeongbuk Province and Andong City held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Bio Phase 2 Industrial Complex in October last year and started construction with a goal of completion in 2022. With an investment of 84.3 billion KRW, this industrial complex is expected to become a landmark for the nationwide hemp industry, as numerous bio-pharmaceutical companies linked to the Hemp Regulatory Free Zone project are scheduled to move in.
