[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] KT is partnering with the global online video service (OTT) Netflix.

KT announced on the 31st that it will provide Netflix services on Olleh TV starting from the 3rd of next month through a partnership with Netflix. Olleh TV customers can choose from monthly plans of 9,500 KRW, 12,000 KRW, or 14,500 KRW and pay additionally to watch unlimited content on Netflix.

Both existing Netflix users and new subscribers can log in on Olleh TV by simply entering their email address. Without separately registering a credit card, the Netflix subscription fee will be charged along with the KT communication bill, allowing for convenient payment.

When using Netflix on Olleh TV, up to four people can connect simultaneously depending on the plan. Viewing can continue not only on TV but also on various devices such as smartphones, tablets, and PCs.

KT will exclusively run a promotion among telecom companies offering a 3-month Netflix Premium subscription to customers who newly subscribe to Olleh TV by September 30. Customers need to subscribe simultaneously to Olleh TV Essence or higher plans (plans costing 16,500 KRW or more), Giga Internet with speeds up to 500M or higher, and Giga Genie 2.

The Netflix service provided on Olleh TV will be applied starting in August to UHD2, Giga Genie 2, and Table TV set-top boxes, with other set-top boxes scheduled for automatic upgrades sequentially by the end of the year.

Song Jae-ho, Executive Vice President and Head of KT Media Platform Business Division, said, "Through this partnership, we expect the convenience for Olleh TV customers to increase significantly, from Netflix subscription and payment to cancellation and service quality." He added, "KT will continue to discover services that customers want and implement customer-centric strategies with a heart that cares for our customers."
