Galaxy Note20, Z Fold2, Buds Live, Watch3, Tab S7 Unveiled
[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] The Galaxy Unpacked event is just 4 days away. From the highly anticipated Galaxy Note20 to the long-awaited Galaxy Z Fold2, detailed specifications and photos have surfaced, raising expectations ahead of the reveal.
Samsung Electronics will hold 'Galaxy Unpacked 2020' online from 11 PM Korea time on the 5th of next month, unveiling the Galaxy Note20, Galaxy Z Fold2, Galaxy Watch3, Galaxy Buds Live, and Galaxy Tab S7.
Galaxy Note20, a More Powerful S Pen
The Galaxy Note20 will be released in two models: a 6.9-inch Ultra and a 6.7-inch standard model. The Ultra model features a 6.9-inch Dynamic OLED display with a resolution of 3220*1440 pixels and supports a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. The aspect ratio is 19.3:. The Ultra model is expected to be the first to adopt Corning Gorilla Glass 7, which offers twice the scratch and drop durability compared to its predecessor. The rear camera of the Ultra model includes three lenses: a 108-megapixel sensor and two 12-megapixel lenses, supporting 5x optical zoom and 50x digital zoom. Based on the model released in Europe, it will be equipped with an Exynos 990 2.7GHz octa-core CPU, 12GB of RAM, and a 4500mAh battery. It will be available in two colors: Black and Bronze.
The S Pen, which has evolved with every Galaxy Note series release, will feature a laser pointer function. Building on the 'Air Actions' introduced in the Galaxy Note10, users can set the desired color, size, and speed to make the S Pen useful during presentations. By holding down the S Pen button and shaking the pen, it can be used as a pointer. Pressing the S Pen button like a mouse click on a PC allows short-range screen navigation and movement. Moving the S Pen while holding the button activates scroll mode to move the smartphone screen up and down. Double-clicking the button switches to 'Spotlight Mode,' where the surroundings darken and only the pointer area is highlighted with a bright circle. Pre-orders for the Galaxy Note20 series will begin on August 14, with prices expected to start at a more affordable 1,199,000 KRW compared to the previous model.
Evolution of Foldable Screens: 'Galaxy Z Fold2'
The main display of the Galaxy Z Fold2 measures 7.7 inches, while the cover display is 6.23 inches. Notably, the cover screen has grown by nearly 2 inches, increasing its usability. The notch on the upper right of the main screen has disappeared, replaced by a punch-hole front camera located in the center right. With thinner bezels, the device size remains similar to its predecessor but offers a larger screen. The product colors shown in the released images are Mystic Bronze and Black.
The rear camera module is vertically arranged like the Galaxy Note20. The camera specs are expected to include a triple rear camera setup (64MP, 12MP, 12MP) and a 10MP front camera. The battery capacity is 4365mAh. The price is expected to be similar to the previous model, around 2.3 million KRW. It is likely to be released at 2.39 million KRW in Korea and $1980 (approximately 2.36 million KRW) in the United States.
Enhanced Health Monitoring with 'Galaxy Watch3' and Noise-Canceling Equipped 'Buds Live'
According to specifications revealed by IT tipster Evan Blass, the Galaxy Watch3's sleep and stress monitoring features have been significantly enhanced. Additionally, a blood oxygen saturation monitoring function will be introduced, along with new exercise and health measurement features. The 45mm model will be available in Mystic Black and Silver, while the 41mm model will come in Mystic Bronze and Silver. The Galaxy Watch3 improves usability by adding a rotating bezel alongside the existing buttons, enabling scrolling and other functions beyond the touchscreen. Besides stainless steel, a titanium version, commonly used in regular watches, will also be introduced. Blood pressure measurement will be available, and an electrocardiogram (ECG) function is scheduled to be serviced in the third quarter.
The wireless earbuds Galaxy Buds Live will be the first in the Galaxy Buds series to feature active noise canceling. The Buds Live earbuds have a bean-shaped design, significantly improving both comfort and aesthetics compared to previous models. While previous Galaxy Buds models were in-ear types, the Live model will be open-type. The part that goes into the ear protrudes slightly to prevent falling out, and a separate wingtip ear tip is provided. The price is expected to be in the low 200,000 KRW range.

The Galaxy Tab S7 will be released in two models: a Plus model with a 12.4-inch OLED display and a standard model with an 11-inch LCD display. Both models are expected to support a 120Hz refresh rate, a first for Samsung tablets. Compared to the 10.5-inch Galaxy S6, both models have larger screen sizes. The Plus model is an unprecedented 12-inch class device and also features an in-display fingerprint sensor. The resolution is 2800*1752 pixels for the Plus model and 2560*1600 pixels for the standard model.
A keyboard with a large trackpad will be released alongside to facilitate smooth document work. The leaked official rendering images also show the keyboard. Additionally, there are expectations that the 'DeX' mode, which allows connection to a PC or monitor, will support wireless environments. The S Pen, which has a reduced latency of 9ms like the Galaxy Note20 Ultra, will also be included. The Galaxy Tab S7 is likely to be equipped with the Snapdragon 865+ chipset. The rear camera specs include a dual camera setup with 13MP and 5MP sensors, and the front camera is 8MP. Models start with 6GB RAM and 128GB memory. The 5G version will support higher RAM and memory specifications. Battery capacity is 10,090mAh for the Plus model and 7040mAh for the standard model.
