[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Gwangju Metropolitan City Election Commission announced on the 29th that it has signed a business agreement with the Ministry of Justice Gwangju Juvenile Detention Center to promote democratic citizenship education and support educational activities for juvenile offenders.
Through this agreement, both organizations agreed to actively cooperate in ▲ operating specialized election education programs ▲ developing and supporting delinquency prevention and guidance education programs ▲ establishing a cooperative network to promote democratic citizenship education.
The signing ceremony was held as Lee Myeonghaeng, Standing Commissioner of the Gwangju Election Commission, and Kim Taeseop, Director of the Gwangju Juvenile Detention Center, shared a mutual understanding of the importance of fostering democratic citizenship awareness among youth, the future leaders.
Democratic citizenship education is planned to be conducted as part of social adaptation education for juveniles awaiting release from the Gwangju Juvenile Detention Center, following the amendment of the Public Official Election Act in January, which granted voting rights to youth aged 18 and over.
