Hancom-Naver, Gyeongnam Office of Education Establish 'Future-Oriented Teaching and Learning Support System'

[Asia Economy Reporter Jin-gyu Lee] Hancom (Hangul and Computer, hereafter Hancom) announced on the 29th that it will participate in the 'Future-Oriented Teaching and Learning Support System' project promoted by the Gyeongsangnam-do Office of Education, together with Naver and the Sigong Group.

On the same day, Hancom signed a business agreement for the establishment of the future-oriented teaching and learning support system at the Gyeongnam Office of Education, attended by Park Jong-hoon, Superintendent of Gyeongsangnam-do Office of Education, Oh Soon-young, Executive Director of Hancom, Kim Hyo, Naver Whale Leader, and Kwak Deok-hoon, Vice Chairman of Icecream Media.

The future-oriented teaching and learning support system is an education support service that integrates 'class operation platform,' 'teaching and learning support,' 'education content provision,' and 'teacher work support,' aiming to build an intelligent future education environment that is connected anytime and anywhere based on data. Starting from September, it will be pilot-applied to leading and willing schools within Gyeongnam Province through a pilot project. From March 2021, official services will begin targeting all schools in Gyeongnam Province, with the goal of completing the advancement work by 2024.

Hancom plans to apply various solutions it owns and develops, including document editing software (SW), cloud-based web services, educational content, and learning management systems, to the future-oriented teaching and learning support system. From the September pilot project, it will provide 'Hancom Web Office,' which allows free sharing and editing of documents on web browsers; 'Hancom Space,' which enables document and content management on PC and mobile based on the cloud; and 'Hancom Malangmalang Content,' which offers various educational content including Hancom Typing Practice.

For the official service in March next year, tools such as 'Hancom Authoring Tool,' which enables the creation of online educational content using various documents and content, and 'Hancom Multilingual Notice,' which automatically translates school notices into English, Chinese, Japanese, and Vietnamese for multicultural families, will be applied. Executive Director Oh said, "We plan to strengthen our edutech business capabilities through participation in this project," adding, "We will spare no support to ensure that this system becomes Korea's representative education platform that satisfies teachers, students, and parents alike."

Naver plans to build an integrated teaching and learning system based on the Whale browser. It will develop a dedicated browser for the Gyeongnam Office of Education based on Naver Whale and provide technical support for remote classes.

Naver Whale aims to build an integrated educational system where teachers and students can conduct real-time online classes while utilizing various collaboration tools. The Gyeongnam Office of Education and Naver plan to enhance the system's completeness by advancing AI functions for teaching support based on the secured educational data. Leader Kim said, "Through collaboration with the Gyeongnam Office of Education, we will build a proactive system optimized for actual educational sites," adding, "This will be an important opportunity for building the national education system infrastructure and digital transformation."
