[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Min Jun-young] Singer Seongbin confessed that he is suffering from a rare disease.

On the 29th, KBS 1TV's current affairs and culture program 'Morning Yard' aired the 'Challenge Dream Stage' segment, where Seongbin appeared and challenged for his third consecutive win.

In the broadcast, Seongbin said, "My father, who dreamed of becoming a singer since he was young, did all kinds of work to make a living. I officially became a singer after releasing an album in 2016, but I was diagnosed with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease."

He continued, "It is a rare incurable disease affecting 3.6 out of 10,000 people, with no medication available. The muscles in my hands and feet gradually atrophy, and I could collapse suddenly. It is difficult to go up and down stairs, I cannot stand for long, and my blood type is rare, so I must avoid injuries," he explained.

However, he added, "It pains me to see my father give up his dreams and work because of me. I believe that not giving up on my path as a singer and continuing to challenge myself is what makes my father happy. I will continue to fight and overcome this disease," he said.

When announcer Lee Jeong-min asked, "Isn't it hard or scary to fight this illness?" he replied, "Honestly, I am still scared. My hands tremble because I am nervous. I practiced each word carefully to reduce my nervousness, so I will show you a wonderful performance."

Seongbin then sang the song "When Leaving, Without a Word" and won the final victory, achieving his third consecutive win.

After hearing Seongbin's song, singer Ha Chun-hwa said, "Listening to the song, it’s good enough to win three times. The low tones were very good. It would be great if you put more strength into the high notes from now on. If you focus on that, you will become an even better singer," she encouraged.

Having succeeded in winning three times, Seongbin expressed his gratitude, saying, "I am thankful to have won among such strong competitors. I will continue to sing without losing my initial passion."
